Meet Our Founder

Riley is passionate about the nuances within the perinatal space, including individuals parenting children with disabilities, abortion care, perinatal grief and loss, as well as the domains within foster care and adoption. She utilizes her vast personal perinatal experiences alongside clinical and theoretical knowledge to motivate her professional work. Riley is the founder of the research-based website Postpartum Brain and a perinatal-specific private practice Holding New Therapy. Her work includes publishing research-based articles on her website as well as various online media forms (i.e. EverydayHealth, Health.com, Parents.com, VerywellMind).

Riley Blanton, MS, LMFT is a clinician specializing in reproductive mental health care in Kansas.

Riley is also the owner of Kansas Reproductive Therapy Center, which provides mental health professionals with specialized training in reproductive mental health, including pregnancy after loss, adoption, and foster care. She served as the Communications Director for the Kansas State Chapter of Postpartum Support International for two years, highlighting the mental health care experience of the Midwest and increasing education of reproductive mental health disorders in Kansas providers.

She received a master's degree in marriage and family therapy from Friends University, where her thesis focused on the relationship stressors that can arise with child-bearing couples. She also received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Old Dominion University.

When Riley isn’t advocating for reproductive rights or sitting with clients, you can find her baking with rambunctious toddlers and writing stream-of-consciousness poetry.
